Shooting started in LA on Friday 21 August 2015 and the following cast have been added. I’m so intrigued by this and curious on who may pick this up to screen here in Australia.
From TheWrap:
TNT’s drama pilot based on 2010 Australian film “Animal Kingdom” has added Molly Gordon in the series regular role of Nicky, TheWrap has learned.
Currently shooting in Los Angeles, the drama stars Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Finn Cole, Jake Weary and Daniella Alonso.
The project is based on David Michod’s award-winning film of the same name, and follows a family of criminals. The story centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Cole), who moves in with his wild, freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town.
Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine “Smurf” Cody (Barkin), the clan also consists of: Joshua, aka “J” (Speedman), who was scooped up by Smurf when his mother died of an overdose; Pope (Hatosy), the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig (Robson), the tough and fearless middle son and Deran (Weary), the troubled, suspicious “baby” of the family.
Gordon’s character Nicky is J’s steady girlfriend.”
From DeadlineTV (Shawn Hatosy):
“Hatosy … will play Pope, fresh out of prison, and the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody Boys. A volatile man, Pope did time for a bank robbery in which he was the only one captured, and the time he spent inside has made him harder and angrier, and even less predictable. Hatosy is coming off an arc on Fear The Walking Dead. His film credits include John Q, Alpha Dogs and Anywhere But Here, among others.”
Deadline TV (Ben Robson):
“Robson will play Craig, the tough, fearless middle son of the Cody crime family. A veteran criminal, he is an extreme-sports maniac and the most daring of the Codys. Scott Speedman, and Shawn Hatosy also star in the pilot, which starts shooting Friday.”
Deadline TV (Daniella Alonso)
“Revolution alum Daniella Alonso has booked a series regular role opposite Scott Speedman in TNT’s drama pilot Animal Kingdom, from John Wells Prods. in association with Warner Horizon Television. The pilot centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Finn Cole), who moves in with his wild, freewheeling grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncles in their Southern California beach town after his mother ODs. He is pulled into their life of indulgence and excess and soon discovers that it’s all being funded by the bank robberies they commit. Alonso, repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Gersh, will play Catherine, Baz’s (Speedman) de facto wife, and the mother of their 3-year- old daughter, Lena.”
