Margaret Pomeranz on David Michôd’s Animal Kingdom “one of the very best of our cinema achievements”

I’m a little slow on the uptake for this as I was slightly preoccupied with the AACTAs.  Anyway, as they say, better late than never, but the Sydney Morning Herald posted Margaret Pomeranz’s top 10 Australian films “of all time” to celebrate Australia Day (26 January 2015) and guess who was there:

“Animal Kingdom (2010)

Another debut film, this time from writer/director David Michod, whose story of a criminal family achieved Shakespearean proportions. Fabulous performances, exquisite direction, cinematography and score make this one of the very best of our cinema achievements.”

I don’t often agree with Margaret, but in this case … no argument from me at all.

And just a little bit of triva – there’s 2 movies on Margaret’s list from Porchlight Films (AK & Lore).
